On March 15, 1926 Leopoldo Gori and Carlo Zucchi created the Gori & Zucchi company. On April 2, 1934 the first registered trademark of the gold industry in Arezzo was assigned to Gori Zucchi:1AR. The first Gori & Zucchi workshop was in Via Seteria, in the historic center of Arezzo, precisely where the medieval gold "bottega" were situated. In the following years, different generations of goldsmiths, technicians, artists and administrators built and developed an economic reality that up to nowadays is unique in the world of our field, in which Uno A Erre is known as the "goldsmith of trust" par excellence. Uno A Erre is in fact the reference trademark for the jewelry medium-high market and offers a wide range of high quality products. Thus, the quality of every "jewel" results from a series of carefully monitored steps: design research and creativity, perfection in reproducing limited series, technical control during the various phases of production, final certificates of guarantee for the client, and packaging. With 470 employees and consolidated turnover for the year 2003 of about Euro 173 Million, Uno A Erre alloys 23.1 metric tons of gold every year. In its production the company uses equipment designed to complement the traditional craftsmanship of the Arezzo goldsmiths with the latest modern technology. The Italian gold industry, traditionally fragmented into over 20.000 companies, is the world leader with a production of 450 metric tons and exports accounting for over 75% of production. Arezzo, Vicenza, and Valenza are the leading manufacturing centers. Production is highly polarized with 2% of the manufacturers accounting for roughly 45% of the total production. In 2003 Uno A Erre held a leading presence on the worldwide market with a turnover equal to 34% in Italy, 30% in Europe, 20% in Middle East and 16% in North America. These results are evidence of the multi-market and multi-area position of Uno A Erre which has achieved a consolidated presence worldwide by offering all the carat ranges through diverse production technology allowing for a vast product range (necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, pendants, brooches, tie clips, cuff links, wedding bands, medals, zodiac charms and coins). The company's activity is gold production, which represents approximately 90% of volume and 95% of total sales. Its brand positioning offers classic styles with an innovative design showing great attention to the quality of the finished product.
